|Encaustic and Hand Coloring
Saturday, August 7, 2021. 10 am - 4 pm, $225
Location: Portland, Oregon
Photographers seem especially drawn to working with wax because of the variety of ways their images can be reborn in a new medium. I was originally trained as a photographer and here I am working in encaustic all these years later.
Hand coloring is a fun way to revitalize vintage photos or make new ones look older. The look you achieve depends on your color choices so you can make your images look very contemporary too. For this technique we'll use pigment sticks and pastels to add color to your black and white photographs that have been encased in wax. The best part? If you don't like the color you can easily remove it until the end when we set it with heat!
Before class begins I will send you instructions on how to easily prepare your images. Not to worry, we'll use copies so you can preserve your original photographs. All supplies will be provided except for your personal imagery. Most students leave class with 2 finished projects. Confirmation, directions to my studio and additional information will be emailed to each student upon registration. Space is limited to 5 students so classes fill quickly.
If you have trouble registering online please contact me at (503) 348-9139 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Classes must be paid for in full by cash, check or credit card prior to the class to confirm your spot. When your payment is received you will be emailed a confirmation notice, additional information about the classes and a map to my studio in NE Portland.
Please note: I am fully vaccinated! Class will be held in my private studio in NE Portland and will be held following CDC COVID-19 protocols. To keep everyone safer, everyone who enters my studio must show proof of vaccination, and cannot participate in classes until two weeks after their final shot.
Following the recently updated mandates, masks will not be required and 2 artists will share a 6 foot table and one hotplate just like we used to. There may be up to 5 students in each class. I look forward to welcoming you back into my studio!
