Choose to rise COLLECTION
These works are from a collection called Choose to Rise, inspired by some personal struggles which have led me to become stronger and more confident. They honor the spirits of my past who are informing my future, so I’ve included some elements that hold special significance for me.
I use silhouettes as a suggestion to reimagine ourselves in a new light. When the challenges of life overshadow the joys, reconnecting with the nature revitalizes my spirit so I surround my figures with natural elements. The scattered letters pressed into the wax surface often go unnoticed on first glance, so they are a special reward for those who linger. These letters are reminders that everything we say leaves an impression which cannot be undone.
I'm interested in cultivating optimism and hope through my use of imagery and color. I like to imagine that at night the universe is waiting just outside our door, and new possibilities may appear with the sun if we just choose to rise.
