MOVING TO VANCOUVER WASHINGTON!

Have you heard? I've sold my long-time house and studio and moving to Vancouver Washington! I've been considering this for a couple of years, so when everything aligned this summer it seemed like the right time to got for it!

My new community in Vancouver is called Ramble Creek and it is off of 179th, exit 9 off of I-5. They have family homes and townhouses and are fairly early in their development. I think I’m phase 2 out of maybe 8?

My townhome is 1625 plan, which is three bedroom two bath plus a two car garage. And one of my favorite things is that someone else mows my lawn!

It already looks very promising in terms of community. Just walking around to see the different options I’ve made friends with a few neighbors and been invited to their private Facebook group set up just for that community.

It will be ready in mid-October, but is already starting to look like a finished home! I can’t wait to fill it with art and have folks over again. Make sure you’re on my mailing list for an invitation to my first event!

Why Was I Invited to Teach in Ireland? It Wasn't Luck!

I swear, every time I look at the calendar I think, “How can it already be (insert month, day or date)???” And it’s happened again as I just realized that I’ll be back in Ireland in 2 months!

So if you’ve been thinking about joining us at the IEA Celtic Convergence retreat this year, it’s time to get real:
- You know artists are having tons of fun in Ireland with Lora Murphy and her crew.
- (I hope) you know that the International Encaustic Artist’s annual retreat is happening at Lora’s Mulranny Arts soon. (October 12 - 17, 2023!)
- And I’ll bet you’d love to hang out there with encaustic painters from all over the world. Yep, I thought so. But somehow you still haven’t registered, so scroll down for some info I wish I’d realized sooner.

But hey, I get it. It’s a significant investment of time, money, and a sometimes overwhelming commitment your art practice. Even I said no (thank you) three times before I accepted the invitation to do a demo and a pre-retreat workshop. The reasons not to go came easily, but then I considered the opportunities I’d be missing if I skipped it.

- To be welcomed like family at Mulranny Arts, even if you’ve never been there before.
- Being able to connect personally with a remarkable lineup of presenters and instructors from several countries (including me!).
- To be inspired by fellow encaustic artists from around the globe while exploring the gorgeous landscape of the Wild Atlantic Way.

>> These are connections that last, and they often lead to opportunities you might not have received otherwise. I know this from experience, because that’s exactly how I ended up teaching in Ireland! Who knows what it could mean for you?

THE 100 DAY PROJECT

This year I'm finally participating in The 100 Day Project for the first time! It's is a free, global art project that takes place online every year. Thousands of people all around the world commit to 100 days of creating, and everyone is welcome to participate!

The idea is simple: choose a creative project (anything you want), do it every single day for 100 days, and share your process on your social accounts. See what's already been posted at #The100DayProject.

I'll be traveling for 3 weeks during the 100 days, so I had to make my project extremely simple. All I committed to was sketching for 5 - 10 minutes a day. I have already changed up my style during the first week, but that's fine because we get to make our own rules! I hope you’ll give it a try.
