A fellow artist once told me that any mark is better than no mark, and that advice has served me well.
We’ll use a variety mark making techniques including ink, watercolor, and my favorite “instant stamps” to avoid that dreaded blank canvas as you begin new work. These techniques will allow you to add gestural marks at any point in your creative process to add more spontaneity and personal expression to your work, no matter what your chosen medium is.
Some of these techniques can be used both under and over encaustic paint, so we’ll experiment with that too. This is how I create my own encaustic paintings, so if you enjoy my work, you'll love learning how to do it yourself.
All supplies will be provided and most students leave class with 1-2 finished projects. Confirmation, directions to my studio and additional information will be emailed to each student upon registration. Come with an open mind and ready to make experimental work in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
