Wild & Expressive Portraits

  • Linda Robertson Arts 12717 Northeast Clackamas Street Portland, OR, 97230 United States (map)

I’m thrilled to host Lora Murphy as our guest teacher for this class, joining us from Ireland!

Many people would like to try portraiture in encaustic but are unsure of where to start. This Workshop will take the mystery out of it, but not the magic! Her step-by-step instruction will show you how to approach a portrait or figure, from the initial drawing to the final highlight.

Working vertically, Lora will demonstrate how to use the hot palette to create luminous skin tones, how to accurately draw the head, how to interpret the light, midtone and shadow, and how to paint facial features.

She will also demonstrate the use of water-based encaustic paint as one of the final steps in your portrait, creating very expressive passages and transitions.
